Then, he finally left his desk job in 2004 to pursue his passion for building, with not much experience. Dave started Marrs Developing that same year. He moved to Arkansas and was struggling to make a name for himself.
His then-girlfriend, Jenny, would help however she could with designing, but she had no background in the interior design whatsoever. Still, they continued building houses in Bella Vista until the 2008 US housing market crash but luckily survived. They then transitioned to renovating and restoring old homes.
HGTV reached out to the couple for a proposal of a lifetime, but the couple was hesitant at first. But, after careful thought and a cast of doubt on the portrayal of their rural community, they decided to give it a shot. The show first aired in 2017 as Almost Home and was a hit among fans.
